Long after special moments have passed or people have passed away, family portraits continue to evoke precious memories. Beverley Studios are experts at capturing those special moments and creating stunning images of babies, children, couples and families.
Portrait Art is by no means the stuffy, posed compositions some people perceive them to be.
Instead, Beverley Studios produces stylish portraits so stunning they should not be hidden in photo albums but deserve pride of place in the family living room. “We create portraits that are believable and real,” says director of photography Margaritha, who jointly owns the company with husband Peter.
“We want our Portrait Art to be spontaneous and we are not afraid to do something unusual and different if that is what suits our clients.”
The modern style of portrait photography includes Portrait Art of pregnant women showing off their “bump”, couples proudly displaying their tattoos and men bonding with their new baby son or daughter.
Unconventional? Maybe. Beautiful? Definitely.
Another popular choice are the Lifestyle Art Portraits where people are photographed in a setting that is directly relevant to their lives. It can be a couple with their motorcycle and their dog, a family gathered around the classic car or walking across sweeping fields surrounded by sheep and with the majestic Southern Alps in the background.
Alternatively, clients can choose the sleek and modern look of a Studio Art Portrait with either a low key (dark) or a high key (white) background.
Celebrating 40+ years in business this year, the team at Beverley Studios has great expertise capturing the love and unity within a family and creating stunning compositions. Whole families have grown up with Beverley Studios; parents bringing in their newly born babies, returning for graduation pictures, wedding portraits and other special occasions.
“We have regular clients who come every year to have a portrait created and can cover their whole lifespan and can be there for every important memorable moment in their life”.
“Our aim is to give people the Perfect Art Portrait, the awe and wonder on the faces of our clients when they see the finished results, is worth everything to us.”
The importance of family portraits has always been apparent to Peter and Marg, but really hit home when Marg lost her mother some time ago. “I found all these photographs I never knew existed, some of my mother, some of myself and my brother. They are so valuable.” With so many people spending time overseas, it can be rare for a whole family to be together and it is impossible to know if a similar opportunity will arise in the future, she says.
“We have created portraits of families only to find out that a member of the family died shortly after the image was created. It was the last time they were all together and it will be a wonderful memory for them”.
“It is a special experience to have a family portrait created. The sitting itself will evoke great memories and the images we create will do the same for generations of people.”
Beverley Studios can be found at 218 Boundary Road, Fernside. For more information or to book a sitting, phone 03 313 2465 or visit www.beverleystudios. co.nz
