Earthdate Update

To Beverley Studios home
October 30th 2011
We loved seeing so many of you at the Home Show, so good to know that everyone is holding up under some heavy doses of stress, we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we hope we are nearly there!
We have relocated and are looking forward to things getting back to some normality, appointments can now be make to suit.
We now have a projection room, consultation room and reception room set up and going. The office and a workroom are now actively in use, (with minor issue of making the IT network behave itself).
Currently we are hoping the insurance company will sort itself out so we can purchase the balance of the equipment, some studio equipment has been loaned to us by a colleague while they lay on the beaches of Greece for a couple of months.
In the meantime we will work from our new location at 218 Boundary Road, Fernside, about 20 minutes from town depending on the time of day (longer when going in the same direction as the peak traffic flow). "No longer than trying to get through town" is what those who have already taken the drive have mentioned.
Come and have a coffee or juice and we can plan your "The year after" family portrait with several options as to the who, what, when, where and WHY! No parking problems or rock and roll issues out here!
PhotoKids is back on the agenda and if you'd like the results to give as Christmas gifts now is a great time.
http://beverleystudios.co.nz/PhotoKids.htm.
Babies are great anytime with special focus on the new born and the story of
"A year in the life your baby", we have a lovely sample album to show you.
Next week the kerbing man will come and do the kerb on our lovely round driveway and outdoor locations are coming together especially and hour before dark. Environmental images can be created (almost) anywhere you like, within reason of course as many locations are not accessible. Picnic tea shoots at the end of the day seem to be the most popular and with the longer evenings it means no time away from work!
You can call us on 03 313 2465 or 0274.311.850 (We don't go far without the iPhone)

June Quake update
15th June 2011
Monday 13th, first day back with the team. Had set up an office where we were staying on Scarbrough hill and could start to get going again.
A break for lunch on the deck overlooking Taylors Mistake beach, and then we had a shake that spilt all our coffee's. Broke a couple of orniments but no major problem, so back to work.
At 2ish we were just about to start ringing clients when we were thrown from one side of the room to the other. Computer screens and paper work all over the office. Bookcase ripped from wall.
All the contents of the house we are in were badly damaged.
We again rescued our computers from the premises and for now have removed them from Christchurch. This time lucky all clent work was secure in a lockup so we did not have to move a lot of portraits. Checked this and all OK.
We will reply to all messages and contact those waiting for appointments as soon as we can put the house back in order, and again set up our office.

February Quake update
28th March 2011
D DAY - the unbelievable happened!
Our engineer reported our building looked good. His report stated that our building was as safe as it could be under the circumstances, and 75% was accessible. Around us buildings had fallen down and damaged part of our Manchester Street facard, but the rest was safe and secure.
Next a report from Civil Defence's own engineers confirming exactly what our engineer had said.
THEN:
We were on the West Coast and recieved a phone call at 5:15pm from CD advising us our building was to be demolished 9:00am the next morning, and if we were there at 8:00am we could have half an hour to remove what we needed. We left the coast at 3:am and rushed back to Christchurch to find out what had changed the situation so drastically.
After much 'discussion' with CD and the City Council Demolition department we ended up with additional time to vacate the premises.
We removed ALL BSL client related material and very few personal pocessions. Midday March 28th - engineer reported building gone
CURRENT STATUS
Moving into storage next week which will enable us to arrange collection of all completed portraits. Clients will be contacted as soon as possible to arrange times.
Many thanks for all the kind messages and support, and our special thanks to our engineer Kevin Simcock without whom we would not have had the additional time we required to collect all the finished work
WE WILL BE BACK!

Tuesday 19th October 2010
Update On Beverley Studios building
Good morning to all clients and friends
OUR FIRST DAY OF ACCESS TO OUR BUILDING.
The painters finished downstairs today, so the team spent the day putting desks and computers back where they belong. It looks like this will take most of tomorrow to finish, leaving Thursday and Friday to put back workfiles and organise courier and lab deliverys.
Telecom seem to have taken the oppertunity to do a major restructure of their wiring and informed us that they will not be able to reconnect our main line before Thursday or Friday as all the origional connections have now been changed. This leaves our mobile phone as our main contact for the moment, however we do have our computer set up and will be able to answer most of the questions we have been recieving re accounts and workflow. We can also now start to make diary appointments, so for those that have been paitently waiting to see their portraits, or waiting for their photography session, now is the time to call and book.
On Tuesday, 26th October, (subject to no more unexpected issues eg more quakes) our doors will reopen for business as usual, so please call in to say Hello and see our refurnished studio.
We look forward to seeing all past and existing clients.
Kindest regards
Peter & Marg Straw and the team

Monday 4th October 2010
Update On Beverley Studios building
Good morning to all clients and friends
The builders are working hard and will hopefully be finished by Friday week which will allow us reopen and get on with things. It won’t be pretty as cosmetic repairs inside and out won’t be completed and we will have to work with painter etc around the building.
It is now possible to make appointments and please feel free to advise good times for you and we will do everything we can to help.
Our plans are to be in on Monday the 18th to set up the computers and reopen on Tuesday the 19th.
Over the weekend before the 18th we will start with a presence at the Home Show to make sure everyone knows we are alive and well and ready to go.
Best way for contact at this time is email and we will respond to everyone ASAP.
Thank you for the great messages of support, it’s appreciated.
Kindest regards

23th September 2010
Update On Beverley Studios building
Today we received a report from a structural engineer on our building and Great News.
We are told that the cracks in the building are cosmetic and apart from the roof where the building next door fell through, the building is better than 95% of the other buildings in central city.
This means we are able to access the building and start the clean-up process, and therefore we hope to be back up and running soon. As soon as we are back we will start phoning all clients that had appointments from the Monday after the quake, and make new appointments.
We expect to have landline phones working by the time we open. The number will remain unchanged.
Please feel free to phone Marg or Peter now if you have any questions or appointment requests, or require any portraits taken.
Thank you to everyone that called to express their concern for us, and all the good wishes we received.
We look forward to being back better and brighter than ever
